The Mysterious Venus Flytrap That Kills And Digests Its Prey

/

The Venus flytrap is a carnivorous plant and native to subtropical wetlands of the United States in North Carolina and South Carolina. The Venus flytrap prey is limited to beetles, spiders and other crawling arthropods.

The Venus flytrap typically grows in soils that have really bad nutrients available for them to utilize. This is why they capture and digest insects.

They are able to obtain their nutrients from these insects. These plants will live for 20 to 30 years.
