Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge map

Amid the wild grandeur of lonely distant islands, soraing cliffs and windswept shores, more than 40 million marine birds and mammals find ideal harbor. Studied and researched by biologists transported between 2,500 islands, spires, rocks and coastal headlands on the M/V Tiglax, Alaska Maritime is one of the most remote Refuges in America. Theodore Roosevelt established part of this refuge in 1909, and many of its borders are still in flux. The Refuge is part of the National Wildlife Refuge System and is administered for conservation, management and restoration of the fish, wildlife and plant resources and their habitats with the United States for the benefit of present and future generations of Americans.
